  11. Thank you for acquiring a copy of Easy Access.  To get a copy of
  12. the users manual type 'COPY MANUAL.TXT PRN'.  This will print the users
  13. manual on your printer.

  16. What follows is simple installation instructions.  More detailed
  17. instructions can be found in the users manual.

  20.                        Installation Instructions
  21.  
  22. Note  :  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the menu system
  23.          please read the notes regarding changes effective with this release
  24.          BEFORE continuing with installation.  If your previous version
  25.          number is not the same as the one you are installing, some or
  26.          all of the files will not be compatible, ex: 5.0a to 5.0f is
  27.          ok but 5.0a to 5.1a will not work with the same files.

  29. Step 1:  Create a sub-directory for the menu programs & files
  30.          Ex: MD C:\MENUS
  31.  
  32. Step 2:  Copy the menu programs into the directory
  33.          Ex: COPY A:*.* C:\MENUS
  34.  
  35. Step 3:  Change your working directory to the directory you copied the
  36.          menu programs too
  37.          Ex: CD \MENUS
  38.  
  39. Step 4:  Run MENU.BAT
  40.          Ex: MENU
  41.  
  42. Step 5:  The program will display the TengWare logo & ask you to hit
  43.          the Enter key or F10 key, take your pick.
  44.  
  45.          The program now will tell you the cofiguration file was not
  46.          found, do you wish to define it,  answer 'Y'.  The computer
  47.          will now ask for several things regarding how you want it to
  48.          work.  Remember F1 = HELP at all inputs.  The configuration
  49.          can be changed at any time so you are not stuck with the set-
  50.          up you are creating now.

  52. Step 6:  If you answered 'Y' to User Log On the computer will now ask
  53.          for your sign on, otherwise proceed to step 7.
  54.  
  55.          The first time you sign on the Sign On is '*' and the Password
  56.          is 'tengware'.  I suggest you add yourself into the user file
  57.          as soon as possible, F8 from the menu, because the '*' sign on
  58.          does not behave the same as other sign on's.

  60. Step 7:  You should now see one of the example menus provided with the
  61.          program.  Hit the F5 key,  this will allow you to modify the
  62.          menu for your needs.

  64.          Enter the appropriate data for the main menu, then hit the F10
  65.          key.  The main menu is now displayed on your screen.  Now hit
  66.          the F10 key again.  You are now back to DOS.  From now on to
  67.          access the menu system DO NOT enter MS, instead enter MENU.

  72.          The menu system is now functional

  74.          To set up Sub-Menus:
  75.  
  76.          If you set up you autoexec.bat file with PATH C:\MENUS you will
  77.          be able to access the menu system at any time regardless of what
  78.          directory you are in by typing 'MENU'.

  80.          An example autoexec.bat file:     echo off
  81.                                            path c:\DOS; C:\MENU
  82.                                            cd \MENU
  83.                                            MENU /L
  84.  
  85.          or if you do not wish to include the MENU directory in your
  86.          path command, copying MENU.BAT into your DOS directory will
  87.          provide the same results.

  89.          If you have User Log On enabled:
  90.  
  91.          The '/L' option will force the menu system to require a log on 
  92.          before allowing the user access to any programs.  This is helpful 
  93.          for those users that just shut off the computer without logging 
  94.          off.

  96.          The menu system will allways require a log on if the system date
  97.          changes or the previous user logged off.

  100.          If occasionally the computer says it can't find a file or you are
  101.          getting IO errors for no apparent reason you probably need to
  102.          increase the number of files / buffers in CONFIG.SYS

  104.          Example CONFIG.SYS file:    files  = 32
  105.                                      buffers= 32

  107.          The CONFIG.SYS file MUST be in the root directory of the drive
  108.          you boot from.
